The British High Commission Abuja has the following vacancy in its Project Management Section:

Position: Projects Officer (LE II)

General

The British High Commission is looking for a Projects Officer to work in its busy Project Management Section.

The successful candidate will be

§ Management of existing projects under the FCO’s Strategic Programme Fund
§ Development of new projects in line with the High Commission’s strategic priorities on Economic Reform and Human Rights
§ Monitoring, reporting and evaluation of projects
§ Developing and maintaining contacts with Civil Society, Government and political figures
§ Support for Uk-based political officers


Qualities needed

All applicants must be educated to at least upper 2nd class Degree level.

The successful candidate will need to be a self-starter with excellent English oral and written communication skills. The candidate will have excellent organisational skills, including the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously; have strong interpersonal and networking skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of people.

Previous experience of project development and management is essential. Candidates must have good keyboard skills and familiarity with computers and software packages (notably MS Word and MS Excel) is essential.

Experience of working within the development sector in Nigeria would be beneficial.

This is a full time position, from 8am – 4:00pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am – 1.00pm on Friday. The job will be graded LE II with a monthly starting salary of N187,227 including allowances. Successful candidates who are not liable to pay Nigerian tax will be subject to a 10 % notional tax deduction on the basic salary. The salary will be Naira and commensurate to experience and qualifications.
